Coolest Projects 2016

This Year we travelled to Coolest projects with plenty of attention on our Junior Infant pupil Tiernan Mangan as he was the youngest entrant! We were all interviewed by Laura Woods Live on Ireland AM for TV3. We were thrilled on the day that Padraic and Mikeys project was an overall winner in their Scratch Category!

We entered 6 projects this year:

Aoibheann and Nora – Twista Sista – a raspberry pi controlled automated version of Twister which was visited by 4 judging rounds AND the CEO of raspberry Pi himself Philip Colligan stopped by and played the game.

Mikey and Padraic – Operation Superman – Mikey and Padraic were big winners on the day with their project operation Superman controlled by the Makey Makey and scratch code. It was a big hit with the general public and we were all thrilled when they were announced as the overall Scratch winners 2016 in their group! Well done boys!

Tiernan G – Eat you Veggies – Tiernan had a project designed to get kids to eat their veggies he designed a fun game on scratch and controlled the eating of veg with the makey makey.

Tiernan M – Ninja Fighter – Tiernan M made a scratch game which pitted a ninja fighter with lots of different challenges in a fencing style fight all controlled by wearables and fruit/veg//tin foil light sabor. For a 5 year old we were amazed at how well he spoke in his 3 judging rounds and to all the general public who came and played his game including MEP Sean Kelly.
